About Us

What is BeHealthyLifestyles?

The fusion and energy of a start-up with the experience of award-winning health communications campaigns and the understanding of the global community, the BeHealthyLifestyles Group develops solutions to the divides which separate us in health, lifestyles, culture, economy, education and technology. Our market focus and inherent strengths give us the ability to effectively reach diverse markets with health and lifestyle information.

All of our initiatives, projects and campaigns share the common goal of turning complex health and lifestyles messages into information, which consumers believe and make positive behavioral modifications. Our goal is to provide our clients with solutions to reaching audiences, which have been previously deemed "hard to reach". In today's multimedia and emerging wireless environment, one of the most important advantages is the ability to deliver critical content to an audience using the most effective media --- be it e-mail, video production, streaming media, web content, distance learning, public policy development, advocacy education, or street team promotions.

The BeHealthyLifestyles Group is an evolutionary outgrowth of Butler Communications, a health communications and social marketing company founded in August 1983. Today, the BeHealthyLifestyles Group is a health, lifestyle, technology communications and social marketing company that addresses health, lifestyle, and technology disparities in communities of color by developing solutions to address these divides. Our goal is to promote healthier lifestyles in communities of color, which promotes a positive quality of life for personal, social and ecological well being. The end result: consumers, patients, partners, suppliers alike have a unique company which understands how to effectively use the mass media, new and emerging technologies in reaching target audiences.

With 18 years of communications development and innovation, BeHealthyLifestyles speaks with the voice of experience, an understanding of what customers need to see, hear, understand and experience to make positive health and lifestyle decisions and purchases. No wonder that BeHealthyLifestyles is fast becoming the solution for the health, behavioral science professional community, non-profit and corporate leaders.

BeHealthyLifestyles: Online

The BeHealthyLifestyles Group, Inc. is a health, lifestyle, technology communication and social marketing company that addresses health/lifestyles/technology disparities in communities of color by developing solutions to address the divide. Our goal is to promote healthier lifestyles in communities of color, which promotes a positive quality of life for personal, social and ecological well being. The company evolved out of Butler Communications, a health communications firm founded by Les Butler in 1984. BHLG's business model includes an online and off-line strategy. Our online strategy includes our website projects: BeHealthyLifestyles.com and World AIDS Day 2000.com.

BeHealthyLifestyles.com is positioned to become the leading single source for comprehensive, positive content for communities of color with emphasis on the nation's African American consumers and the Caribbean community. BHL.com provides content through a variety of channels which includes: BHL Kids, BHL Teens, BHL Adults, BHL Seniors, Clinical Trial and Community Studies, Health E!, HealthLine News, TechTeens, The Washington Report, View on DC, and Voices of Hope, channels which premiered in September 2001. BeHealthyLifestyles.com was created to be a total communications vehicle to communicate health, lifestyle and technology information across all current and emerging media.

BeHealthyLifestyles.com was officially launched in September 1999 at the Congressional Black Caucus Legislative Weekend. BHL.com received an initial endorsement from the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust, chaired by Rep. Donna Christian-Christensen, MD, (D-VI). Our original Content Partners include: AmASSI Center of Los Angeles, Ark Foundation of Africa, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, LiveWire Productions, Inc., National Institutes of Health (National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences), Sheridan Shelter, The Scientist, and The University of the District of Columbia.

In June 2001, BeHealthyLifestyles.com and Healthfinder®, a free portal to reliable consumer health information, developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, announced the redesign and launch of its new user-friendly, easy-to-use web site, www.healthfinder.gov. As part of the ongoing mission to reduce health disparities in communities of color, healthfinder® has also made its collection of handpicked health resources available to the www.behealthylifestyles.com web site.

BeHealthyLifestyles.com website will feature reliable health information from healthfinder®, as well as direct searching of the healthfinder® web site. Consumers will have access to thousands of online publications, clearinghouses, databases, and web sites, as well as the government agencies and non-profit organizations that produce reliable information for the public. In addition, BeHealthyLifestyles.com will provide health and lifestyles news and information specifically targeting women, men, seniors, teens and children in communities of color. Consumers and health professionals can access the newly expanded behealthylifestyles.com web site 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Complete privacy and security are assured, and the behealthylifestyles.com email database is not sold or shared with other companies or organizations.
